I have looked for a lock file name in the \sbbs\data\subs dir. and anything in the \sbbs\data\qnet dir. & \sbbs\ctrl dir. & \sbbs\data dir. even the \sbbs\node* dir. & \sbbs\temp\sbbsecho dir., any ideas on the problem or where to look?

First look at data/sbbsecho.log, it should have details on the cause of teh error.
